Preparing for admission tests is a daunting task for many students starting their undergraduate journey. Weeks and months of preparation is required to achieve the requisite score to ensure admission to leading universities. To ease the process of preparation and to help students get familiarised with the SAT exam, the Office of Advancement at LUMS presented a unique opportunity to undergraduate students. After the success of last year’s SAT workshop, a three-day free SAT workshop was conducted again this year from September 27-29, 2019, where expert trainers were supported by LUMS alumni to motivate and help students ace their SAT preparation.
After an overwhelming response upon registration, 550+ students from across Pakistan were invited to the University for the three-day workshop. The sessions kicked-off with an overview of life at LUMS and the range of academic programmes and opportunities available at the University. Students filled up three auditoriums and eagerly listened to the techniques and strategies that were being explained by the experienced trainers. The workshop overall provided a comprehensive introduction to the SAT including pointers on structure, the range of questions and practice tests. The interactive sessions enabled students to get clarity on what to expect during the exam.
Phenomenal feedback was received from the students, who were grateful to LUMS for taking such an excellent educational initiative.
“Had I not attended the SAT Math cracking session, I wouldn’t have been able to do my practice test. The workshop attempted to clarify Math techniques and tricks in an effortless way,” commented Momina Ramzan, a student of Kinnaird College for Women. Rabiya Umair from Garrison School said, “I learnt English and Math techniques which will help me a lot with my SAT preparation.”
The workshop, the SAT briefing, and LUMS, everything was outstandingly incredible, beneficial and unforgettable, expressed students enthusiastically.
