The Government of Pakistan conferred the Sitara-i-Imtiaz on Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor, Lahore University of Management Sciences in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of education. He received his award on the 76th Pakistan Day (March 23, 2016) in Islamabad from the President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
Dr. Naqvi became the fourth Vice Chancellor of Lahore University of Management Sciences in July 2013, having served prior to that as the Executive Director of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) for 8 years. At HEC, he helped develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for the revival of the university education sector of Pakistan. Prior to that he worked as the Vice President Operations at Communications Enabling Technologies, Islamabad. He has also served as the Dean, Faculty of Electronics, GIK Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology, Topi.
With a PhD in Electrical Engineering and extensive teaching and research experience both in the USA and Pakistan, Dr. Naqvi has a number of patents to his credit. He has also worked with startups bringing high-tech inventions to the marketplace.
