A delegation of 14 undergraduate students from the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) won the Best Delegation Award at Model United Nations Turkey (MUNTR) Conference held in Antalya, Turkey from March 5–9, 2018. The LUMS Model United Nations (LUMUN) delegation consisted of Zarak Asim, Mahnoor Ayub, Inshirah Tahir, Zulnash Shaukat, Bareha Abbas, Aysha Ahsan, Mariam Malik, Zoha Waqar, Usama Nasim, Nikhat Fatima, Fahad Abbas, Hamza Aqeel, Zohair Abbas Khan and head delegate, Kiran Khalid.
MUNTR is considered to be the biggest and most prestigious Model United Nations Conference in Turkey and in its surrounding region. LUMUN received the Best Delegation Award after winning 10 awards, including 3 Best Delegate awards, 5 Outstanding Delegate awards and 2 Honourable Mention awards. The team competed with 56 teams (600 participants) from all over the world including 4 other teams from Pakistan: IBA, Bay View College, KYMUN, and CBM.
The theme for this year’s MUNTR conference was Mainstreaming Human Progress. The 10 committees and their agendas were chosen in consideration of this theme and its diverse implications.
