LUMS Student Wins Second Prize at International Maths Competition 2015

Syed Waqar Ali Shah, a student at the Department of MathematicsSyed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), won the second prize at the International Mathematics Competition (IMC) which was arranged by the University College London in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria in the first week of August 2015.

Waqar was ahead of many contestants leaving behind Yale and Chicago and many European universities in the competition. IMC is arranged every year for mathematics students at the university level from all over the world.

Waqar is doing his BS, majoring in Mathematics and he has represented Pakistan in many international competitions and won many prestigious awards in International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) in the past. He also won the Silver Medal in IMO 2012 held in Argentina.
