LUMS Seattle Alumni Chapter Holds First Annual Reunion

Wednesday, August 9, 2017

It was new beginnings for our alumni in Seattle on Saturday, July 29, 2017 when they held their very first annual reunion at the residence of alumnus Ali Maaz, MBA 2007.

Marking the official initiation of the LUMS Seattle Alumni Chapter, it was a lively gathering of over 25 alumni and their families, residing in Seattle and its surrounding cities. LUMS Pro- Chancellor, Syed Babar Ali, and his son, Member LUMS Board of Trustees, Syed Hyder Ali, also graced the occasion with their presence.

The afternoon kicked off with brief introductions by the alumni present, where they shared details about their academic background and career progress after graduating from LUMS.
Syed Babar Ali then addressed the room, speaking about recent initiatives at LUMS, and the University’s growth and advancement through the years. He provided the alumni with an overview of the National Outreach Programme (NOP) and advised them to contribute to the cause in whatever capacity they are capable of. More than anything, he emphasized the importance of a cohesive and activated alumni community, and encouraged the alumni to stay connected to each other and their alma mater. They, in turn, shared their ideas and aspirations for LUMS, and greatly appreciated the opportunity to interact with each other and to acquire guidance from Syed Babar Ali and Syed Hyder Ali.

The alumnus and host for the afternoon, Ali Maaz, played a key role in the organisation and facilitation of this reunion. For his efforts in bringing together the alumni community in Seattle, he has been selected as the official Ambassador of the LUMS Seattle Alumni Chapter for a tenure of two years.

After an afternoon of such productive and positive engagement, the reunion ended with a group photography session, and a collective assurance of active participation in future alumni events.
