LUMS Holds Open Day in Dubai

The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) held an Open Day on Saturday, October 28, 2017 at Pakistan Auditorium, Pakistan Association Dubai. Aimed at raising awareness about the various academic programmes at LUMS, the grand event unfolded with a detailed briefing about the unparalleled educational and co-curricular opportunities that exist at the University.

Prospective students and their parents got a chance to meet the Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Dean Student Affairs, Mr. Yasser Hashmi, Manager Marketing, Sarah Karim and prominent LUMS alumni.

The information session provided an excellent opportunity for guests to find out about the degrees offered at LUMS, the admission application process and financial aid options at the University. “The LUMS Open Day Dubai has been a very exciting event. It has been great talking to all the youngsters and learning about their dreams, challenging them to come to LUMS to get the world’s best education in an excellent environment in which they will find new friends and discover their career path,” commented Dr. Naqvi.

The guests networked with LUMS senior leadership, alumni and marketing representatives who introduced them to academic and extra-curricular life at the University. While addressing the audience at a session, Dean of Student Affairs, Mr. Yasser Hashmi said, "Lahore University of Management Sciences provides a distinctive intellectual and educational environment. The hallmark of a LUMS student is his spirit, intellect and passion to reach his goal.”

The alumni including Mudassir Sheikh, Shahzad Bashir, Omair Homaey and Zaheer Khan inspired the crowd with their personal experience at LUMS. Omair Homaey, Assistant Vice President at Barclays Bank said, “My attitude toward life and my thought process changed a lot at LUMS. And I started to explore diversity and tolerance and inculcated in myself the ability to understand other people’s opinions.”

Addressing the gathering, Mudassar Sheikh, BSc 2007 spoke highly of the University while assuring all students of security concerns raised recently. He said, “Whatever I am is because of the four years at LUMS”. He assured students and parents of the security situation in Pakistan and mentioned that students will be protected at all times in the beautiful and secure city of Lahore.

The event concluded with the guests interacting with LUMS management and Alumni. They got a glimpse into an education system that goes beyond the classroom, the University that offers a multitude of degrees and has a distinguished panel of faculty qualified from the world’s top institutions.
