Dr. Murtaza Taj, Assistant Professor in the Computer Science Department at Syed Babar Ali School of Science & Engineering (SBASSE), and his team are using cutting edge technology to preserve Pakistan’s iconic architectural heritage sites. These sites include Masjid Wazir Khan, Darewar Fort, Masjid Khudadad, Temple of Shiva Johi, Takht-e-Bahi and Stupa at Julian. Dr. Taj and his team are conducting research activities including scanning of monuments and testing and analysis of different approaches. The project is funded primarily by the US Agency for International Development (USAID) through the US Ambassador’s Fund Programme, a 7-year programme which aims to support high impact projects in Pakistan such as cultural preservation.
