LUMS Faculty Catch Up with Berkeley Alumni

Wednesday, December 7, 2016

A reunion for LUMS alumni in Berkeley was held on November 12, 2016 at the Turkish Kitchen in Berkeley, CA. Faculty members, Dr.  Ihsan Qazi and Dr. Hammad Alizai, from the LUMS Computer Science Department and Dr. Ayesha Ali from the LUMS Economics Department coordinated their trip to the US in time to catch up with the Berkeley alumni.

The reunion started off with the alumni introducing themselves, followed by a sumptuous dinner alongside the alumni sharing their memories of LUMS. Everyone was delighted to see so many fellow graduates (around 25 alumni) turn up to this reunion.

Furthermore, the progress of LUMS and its programmes was also discussed and feed back on how they can be improved on various fronts was shared. The alumni talked about a stronger alumni network and emphasised on how to strengthen alumni-to-alumni and alumni-to-student relationships at LUMS. The faculty took detailed notes on the alumni feedback, and work has begun on how to better facilitate our alumni in the US.

The faculty members gave the alumni an insight on what’s happening at LUMS and how the university has expanded over the years. They were overwhelmed by the support shown by our alumni in the US that evening. The reunion concluded with a memorable group photograph. Everyone left with smiles on their faces, looking forward to the next reunion.
