LUMS CS Student to Join Harvard University in Fall 2018

Muhammad Ahmad Tirmazi, a student of BS Computer Science 2018 at the LUMS Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE) will be joining Harvard University this Fall. He will be starting a fully funded PhD in Computer Science at the Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences (SEAS).

He also received fully funded PhD offers from Brown, ETH Zurich, EPFL, NYU and UIUC. Tirmazi's primary research interest is in Internet Architecture and Network Design. At LUMS, Tirmazi worked as a research intern for Dr. Ihsan Ayyub Qazi at the Network & Systems Group (NSG). He has also worked as a research intern for Dr. Ankit Singla at the Network Design & Architecture Lab (NDAL) at ETH Zurich, and Dr. Jean-Yves Le Boudec at LCA2 at EPFL in Switzerland. He has been working for the past two years on research projects involving the design of better cloud architecture and network protocols for the Internet and hopes to continue his efforts to make the Internet faster at Harvard, where he will be joining the Network Design Research lab of Dr. Minlan Yu.
