It was an enjoyable evening for the close-knit alumni community in Hungary on Saturday, April 27, 2019, when they came together for a meet-up at the Curry House in the city. The reunion was organised by the EU Mainland Chapter, headed by Fouad Yaseen. Approximately 10 alumni from different parts of Europe, including Belgium and the Netherlands, attended the event. Participants talked about their lives and careers after LUMS, and various ideas were exchanged on how the alumni can be more involved with the University’s initiatives and activities.
As the evening wore on, the alumni also engaged in a holistic discussion about the strong European alumni network and how it can be leveraged for the betterment of LUMS. Ideas discussed included supporting fresh graduates and fellow alumni concerning job openings, social integration support for new arrivals in the area, giving back to LUMS in terms of both monetary gifts and time-intensive endeavours and generally fostering a sense of community.
It was also heartening for the alumni to hear about all the exciting new developments underway at LUMS under a new vision, and their discussions thus centred around specific steps they can take as a strong alumni network to help further the key aspects of these new directions. The alumni enjoyed acquainting themselves with their batch mates and concluded the evening on a collective resolve to stay connected with their alma mater.
