The LUMS UK Alumni Chapter organised its second reunion of the year on Friday, May 11, 2018 at St. Hilda's College, Oxford in the presence of LUMS Pro Chancellor, Syed Babar Ali.
The event was attended by alumni of batches ranging from 1989 to 2016, and the lively gathering provided the alumni with an opportunity to revive old friendships and celebrate achievements and memories at LUMS. The first Associate Dean of LUMS, Dr. Jan Erik Vahlne, and his daughter Sophia Vahlne also attended the reunion.
The evening began with Syed Babar Ali discussing the journey of LUMS over the last three decades and the University's planned future developments. The alumni shared their experiences and memories of university life and gave suggestions to further improve the student life at LUMS. The Business School alumni shared how the case studies at LUMS groomed them for their journey after LUMS and prepared them to face challenges. Dr. Jan Erik Vahlnes suggested that LUMS students should work on being more focused on learning rather than grades. The alumni also exchanged ideas about how they can help fresh graduates moving to the UK in terms of mentorship and placements, and agreed that more meet-ups should be organised for networking opportunities.
The alumni had a great time socialising with each other over tea and snacks. The evening came to an end with the alumni agreeing to plan another reunion over the summer.
