Lake City Holdings to Support 20 NOP Scholars

To advance the cause of education and giving back to society, Mr. Gohar Ejaz, CEO of the Lake City Holdings, has committed to support 20 National Outreach Programme (NOP) Scholars at LUMS. Through this support, the organisation reflects its commitment to playing a constructive role towards the betterment of society.

To celebrate this commitment, an MOU signing ceremony was held between Lake City Holding and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) on February 22, 2019. The ceremony was attended by representatives of both organisations including, Mr. Ejaz, Mr. Sultan Gohar, Brig. Pervaiz, Mr. Shahid Sattar and Mr. Hasan Mahmood, who represented Lake City Holdings. LUMS was represented by Dr. Arshad Ahmad, Vice Chancellor, LUMS; Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE); Dr. Tahir Andrabi, Dean Syed Ahsan Ali and Syed Maratib Ali School of Education (SOE) and Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement.

Dr. Ahmad addressed the gathering and elaborated on the premium education system that LUMS is providing to financially disadvantaged but academically brilliant scholars inducted through the NOP stream. He also spoke about the world-class competitive faculty members who are not only providing their teaching services at LUMS but are also involved in research and policymaking with various private organisations as well as government departments. He expressed his gratitude at the occasion and thanked Mr. Ejaz for supporting LUMS in extending the benefits of NOP to the financially challenged youth of the country.

Mr. Ejaz also participated in an interactive session with the beneficiaries of the Lake City Holdings scholarships. The discussion spanned around the future prospects and challenges faced by the students. He is an enthusiastic philanthropist and encouraged the students to give back to their communities. According to him, giving back to the society is the most important tenet of success. He added that wealth creation is not done by saving money; it is done by educating people. “Values and skills are the most important things which can help you throughout your life,” he said.
