The Embassy of Denmark’s Deputy Head of Mission, Mr. Jakob Jakobsen, visited LUMS on April 5, 2016. He was accompanied by Mr. Jan Reimer, Development Counsellor and Mr. Saleem Anwar, Communications Officer from the Embassy of Denmark.
Dr. Junaid Ashraf, Dean, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) and Yasser Hashmi, Dean of Student Affairs, represented LUMS. The aim of the visit was to discuss the renewal points of the MoU between LUMS and Copenhagen Business School (CBS). Mr. Jakobson started by saying that LUMS is a “Brilliant university” and that he was happy to be here. He expressed keen interest in a collaboration between both institutions, as well as both countries.
Various collaboration points were discussed by both sides including student exchange programmes, faculty to faculty interaction and collaborative PhD programmes with exchange of resources for research, among others. Dr. Ashraf and Mr. Hashmi stressed on the fact that studying at LUMS is a great cultural experience for international students. With its vibrant student body, courses in the social sciences at the Mushtaq Ahmad Gurmani School of Humanities and Social Sciences (MGSHSSS), and various extracurricular events, the LUMS experience is a great first step to discovering Pakistan.
Mr. Jakobsen later conducted a presentation for LUMS students about Denmark and its ties with Pakistan. The session concluded with an interactive question and answer session with the students.
