Dr. Faiza Ismail joined the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law at LUMS as an Assistant Professor. She obtained her PhD from the University College Dublin in 2016 having been funded as an Irish Research Council Scholar (2013-15). Dr. Ismail was also a recipient of the University College Dublin Matheson Islamic Finance Doctoral Award (2013-15).
Before joining the LUMS School of Law Dr. Ismail worked as a Research Consultant at the Institute of Business Administration Karachi. During her PhD studies in Ireland she was a Tutor at University College Dublin (2013-2016).
Dr. Ismail’s research interests include commercial, international finance and Islamic finance law. Her approach to research and teaching aims towards practical benefits. She believes that research should have a positive impact on both the economy and society at large. Her current research examines legal and regulatory issues in the global Islamic finance industry. In this connection she explores trends and developments in Islamic finance disputes in the US, the UK and Pakistan. Dr. Ismail’s research suggests that the global Islamic finance industry needs a clear legal and regulatory framework to sustain the current growth in international financial markets.
In her leisure time, Dr. Ismail enjoys hiking, squash and watching movies. She works with NGOs for poverty alleviation, disaster management and maintaining cleanliness in under-privilege town and cities.
