In Commerce and Business, today, the externalities and ‘known unknowns’ create a myriad of issues that complicate running a successful concern. Simultaneously, the growth of the ‘gig economy’ have made customers much more demanding and response times, almost instantaneous. To add to this impossible situation, the laws and regulations governing commerce in Pakistan are severely outdated catering to a pre-digital and different era. How does one navigate these waters to ensure that businesses do what they know best, serving customer needs? Kamila and Ali are at the helm of running a complex and multi-pronged business that hits nearly every Pakistani, the cellular mobile industry. In this talk they will share their experiences on what it takes to keep Jazz running smoothly, 24/7!

Saima Kamila Khan
Chief Legal Officer, Jazz
Kamila has been with Jazz since 2018. She previously held leadership positions at ICI and Samba Bank, and has nearly two decades of work experience both in Pakistan and abroad, across a variety of industries including Oil and Gas, Pharmaceutical, Banking, and Private Equity. She has also run her own business designing jewelry and footwear.
At ICI she oversaw the company’s Legal, Secretariat, and Communications functions, applying her legal expertise and acumen to bring synergy to all three. Kamila’s experience in managing a diversity of portfolios has enabled her to bring a unique business perspective to what is traditionally considered a commercially less savvy function. Her philosophy is that the legal function ought to operate as a partner to business rather than a supplier of services.
She holds an LLM from the University of Pennsylvania and sits on the Board of numerous institutions including the Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance.
