The Islamabad Chapter of the LUMS Development Sector Alumni met up for a reunion on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at AQS Art Gallery and Restaurant in Islamabad. Organised by Saheem Khizar, BSc 2012, the gathering was attended by alumni from batches as early as 2001 and as late as 2017.
The reunion aimed to provide a platform for alumni working in the development sector to network, get to know each other, share their experiences working in the development sector, and discuss career prospects. The alumni in attendance work in different organisations in the sector including Rural Support Programmes Network, the British Council, Planning Commission of Pakistan, Saving 9, High on Tech, DEW and Data Consultants among others, and are at varying stages of their careers.
Starting with a round of introductions, the evening continued with the alumni mingling in small groups over coffee and drinks. Discussions ranged on how the alumni had started off on their respective career trajectories, the various pros and cons of working in the development sector as well as the merits of different graduate programmes.
The evening concluded with the alumni planning to increase the frequency of their reunions and staying in touch with their fellows in the sector.
