The Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) welcomed a delegation of Chinese officials from Guangdong Intellectual Property Office on October 19, 2016. Irfan & Irfan, Attorneys at Law, facilitated the visit of the delegation, which included Ms. Xie Hong, Deputy Director General, Mr. Zhuang Huakun, Division Director General, Ms. Liu Yuhua, Division Director, Ms. Chen Jienan, Deputy Section Chief, as well as Ms. Chen Lei, Deputy Director of the Guangdong IP Research and Development Center, and Ms. Zheng Qiusha, Section Chief of the State IP Office of the People's Republic of China/Patent Office Guangzhou Division. The delegation was welcomed by Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean, Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering, and the LUMS Marketing Office team. The visitors were briefed about LUMS, its four schools and the programmes they offer. Briefing was followed by a visit to LUMS Centre for Entrepreneurship (LCE), where they met with Mr. Khurram Zafar (Director, LCE), the delegation took a keen interest in the Centre’s incubated start-ups.
The delegation also visited the Shaikh Ahmad Hassan School of Law where they met with faculty members, staff and students to discuss areas of mutual interest and to explore avenues for possible cooperation. Delegation expressed their desire to work more closely with LUMS in the future and to develop mutual collaboration in the field of Intellectual Property law.
