Dr. Jawad Syed, Dean and Professor of Organisational Behaviour, Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) has published the second edition of his international textbook, 'Human Resource Management: A Global and Critical Perspective.' The book has been published by Palgrave Macmillan (April 2017). The first edition of the book is currently in use at several business schools/universities in Europe, Australia and Asia.
This fully revised and updated second edition of the book builds on the previous edition’s success to bring an even sharper exploration of HRM in a real world global context. With a critical approach that is woven into the chapters and encourages students to question assumptions in HRM, there is a consistent focus on the impact of globalisation, the ways in which theory has addressed the implications of a globalised workforce, and the way HRM works in multinational corporations.
“Boasting a truly global orientation which is removed from the typically westerncentric approach, this textbook draws on the expert knowledge of chapter authors from around the world, combining international case studies with a strong offering of pedagogical features. Yet, while this textbook is designed to engage the student and elicit independent thought, it also adopts a rigorous academic level which is grounded in the very latest research,” added Dr. Syed.
Dr. Syed has an extensive publishing record, having published in scholarly journals including Human Resource Management Journal, British Journal of Management, Business Ethics Quarterly, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Management Learning, Journal of Business Ethics, Gender, Work and Organisation, and Journal of Knowledge Management.
