In addition to placement support, the LUMS Career Services Office (CSO) also provides counselling services to students to help them make the best career choices for themselves. With his aim, CSO arranged a grooming session conducted by Mr. Fahad Tanveer, LUMS alumnus and Co-Founder of EDKASA, on October 2, 2018. The session, 'Exploring Progressive Careers' started off with Mr. Tanveer introducing himself and sharing his experiences of working at different industrial sectors, including Pharmaceuticals, FMCG, Mobile Financial Services and E-learning industry. Mr. Tanveer has a Master’s in Financial Management from Harvard University and his expertise includes marketing management, negotiation, market planning, business planning and analytical skills.
Mr. Tanveer emphasised on the importance of persistence and harwork and said that everyone should be ready to face the challenges of practical life as there is no shortcut to success. He advised the students to focus on personal and professional development as this is an investment and it always pays back in the form of success. Furthermore, he highlighted that networking helps at every step of life, and asked students to start networking at the university. He also shared a few networking techniques at the personal and professional level. Focusing on career prioritising, he asked students to set goals with long-term perspectives and added that personal and professional goals should be very clear. He also talked about interview skills and explained that convincing power plays a vital role not only in an interview but throughout life.
The session concluded with an interactive question and answer session.
