Communication and Computer Classes for LUMS Support Staff

Monday, September 16, 2013

The LUMS Human Resource Department and LUMS Community Service Society organised an 8 week communication and computer course for Office Attendants, REDC room boys, F&E and PDC staff. The LUMS Community Service Society was formed around three years ago to provide students with an organised platform through which they could help the poverty stricken members of our society. The course was conducted by students working for PULSS (Project for Uplifting LUMS Support Staff) which is part of the LUMS Community Service Society. The purpose of this project was to develop the skills of support staff and help them succeed in their future career endeavors.

Twenty five staff members from different departments participated in this course. The classes were held on weekends which were delivered by a dedicated team from PULSS. The course outline included the basics of operating a computer. Support staff availed this leaning opportunity with great enthusiasm and passed the final exam with flying colors. Shabbir ul Hassan, Zulfiqar Ali and Sagheer Ahmed achieved highest marks in the course. A certificate distribution ceremony was held on Friday, September 13 , 2013 to acknowledge the efforts of PULSS team members and the staff members who worked hard to pass this course.

The HRD plans to collaborate with LCSS in future as well for arranging such learning opportunities for LUMS support staff.
