Chemistry Undergrads get Fully-funded PhD Admission Offers from Top-tier US Universities

Keeping the department’s tradition alive, LUMS BS Chemistry seniors, who will graduate in June 2019, have received multiple admission offers from prestigious universities in the USA including the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), University of Minnesota, Texas A&M University, Ohio State University, University of Massachusetts Amherst, University of Florida Indiana, Michigan State University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and Indiana University Bloomington.

These bright, high achievers shared their thoughts on their achievement and how LUMS has helped them during their journey. Saman Fatima, who got offers from UIUC and Texas A&M University shared that the skills she acquired at LUMS will be extremely useful in her future career at UIUC. She also spoke about her LUMS experience, “The overall spirit at the Department of Chemistry & Chemical Engineering is unlike any other, and it continues to grow and thrive. I would like to thank so many people at the department for helping me get to where I am today. I have certainly grown as a leader, a scholar, a friend, and much more, for which I am grateful. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at LUMS.”

Ali Arshad, who has offers from three universities expressed his gratitude for LUMS and said that the four years he spent at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering are the most important years of his life, spent under the guidance of many people especially the instructors. “I couldn’t have been where I’m today without their constant support. Some of my important LUMS achievements are improved critical thinking, leadership skills and curiosity of science and a better future. I’m grateful to the people who helped me achieve all this. I’m quite hopeful that my future endeavours at University of Minnesota will add more value to my life.”

“An institute which thrives on dynamism, LUMS has instilled in me abilities to adapt, improve and explore, traits that surely will help me stand my ground in the search for new innovations in the field of chemistry and beyond,” said Ayesha Amjad, who will join Indiana University at Bloomington. 
Maha Ibrar views her time at the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering as nothing short of phenomenal. “Being a part of an environment, which pushes one to innovate, to test one's tenacity and particularly to dream big, has a euphoria of its own. I am fortunate to have had such an intellectually enriching experience at the Department.  I am also utterly indebted to my Professors for their consistent guidance and encouragement," said Maha.
