Canada Alumni Get Together for Interactive Meet-Up

Tuesday, January 15, 2019

It was a memorable evening for the alumni community in Canada on Wednesday, 19 December, 2018 when they came together at the Homewood Suites by Hilton hotel in Mississauga for an interactive meet-up with Dr. Jamshed Khan, Professor Suleman Dawood School of Business (SDSB) and LUMS Vice Chancellor, Dr. Arshad Ahmad.

As one of the largest and most active LUMS alumni communities in the world, the Canada Alumni Chapter was enthusiastic about meeting with their alma mater’s new Vice Chancellor, acquainting themselves with his vision for the University, and reconnecting with the developments underway at LUMS. With a substantial number of alumni in attendance, the evening played host to a lively brainstorming session amongst the gathering where key aspects of the University’s new advancement function were discussed including new directions and initiatives.

The alumni were quick to jump in with a variety of valuable recommendations and feedback from ideas on alumni-led mentorship and coaching series to establishing stronger ties for LUMS internationally and strengthening both the diversity and programming of the alumni network abroad. They displayed the trademark LUMS spirit of giveback as they volunteered both their time and the resources at their disposal for these various undertakings.

Interacting with Dr. Jamshed and the Vice Chancellor in such an engaging setting was a gratifying experience for the alumni, and they truly enjoyed sharing ideas on the University’s future growth. Such a productive alumni get-together wouldn’t have been possible without the A to Z efforts of our alumnus, Mustafa Zafar, MBA 1991, who was an immaculate source of support in bringing everything together, and Canada Alumni Chapter President, Azim Rizvee, MBA 1998, who together with Zafar and donations from the attendees was generous enough to sponsor the meet-up.

The alumni had an excellent time reconnecting with each other and Dr. Jamshed and Dr. Ahmad, and ended the evening on a collective resolve to follow through on their ideas and stay engaged with the University’s endeavours.
