The Gad and Birgit Rausing Library at LUMS organised its Annual Book Fair on Wednesday, February 26, 2020. The Fair was held to give students easy access to a wide range of quality fiction and non-fiction books in order to nurture and build a love of reading among the community. This year’s fair exhibited books by over 29 leading local and international booksellers and publishers, at specially discounted prices for the students.
The event was inaugurated by LUMS Provost Dr. Kamran Asdar Ali, who also visited various bookstalls along with Dr. Nadeem Siddique, Head of Department, Gad and Birgit Rausing Library. Commenting on the success of the event, Dr. Siddique said, “Our youth and students are the future of Pakistan, and our success in literature and scientific research depends upon a great deal of the intellectual growth of our youth. Such events are invaluable, as they not only help broaden one’s vision and horizons but also contribute immensely towards the growth and development of our younger generations by inculcating in them a love for reading and the pursuit of knowledge.”
The fair was attended by a large number of students, faculty members, and their families, who took a keen interest in the variety of books available for purchase and really appreciated the Library’s initiative.
