LUMS hosted a visit of the Ambassador of Japan H.E. Mr. Takashi Kurai on May 29, 2018. The members of the delegation included Mr. Tsuchikawa from the Embassy of Japan, Mr.Kenichiru Hirai, the General Manager of Mitsubishi Corp. Islamabad office and Mr. Mahir Abbas, the General Manager of Mitsubishi Corp. Lahore office.
Prof. Dr. S. Sohail H. Naqvi, Vice Chancellor LUMS, along with representatives from the Office of Marketing and Communications, Dr. Tariq Jadoon and Dr. Nauman Zafar Butt from the Electrical Engineering (EE) department welcomed the Ambassador and the delegation.
Ms. Minhal Sheikh, Assistant Manager Marketing, briefed Mr. Kurai about LUMS, its five schools and the programmes it offers. The presentation was followed by a general discussion on promoting awareness of Pakistan's educational system and future academic collaborations that could be explored at an institutional level among Pakistani and Japanese universities. Mr. Kurai was enthusiastic about promoting student and faculty exchange programmes between the two countries.
Mr. Kurai was then given a tour of the campus, which included a visit to the National Incubation Centre (NIC) where they met different incubates. Later at the Mitsubishi Lab sponsored by Mitsubishi, the delegation met EE faculty members, Dr. Nauman Ahmad Zaffar and PhD students. They took a tour of the Lab and took a keen interest in the ongoing experiments.
