LUMS and Alfalah GHP Investment Management Limited (AGIML) entered into an agreement on January 14, 2020 for the sponsorship of one National Outreach Programme (NOP) scholar for his/her entire study tenure at the University.
Present at the MOU signing were Dr. Arshad Ahmad, LUMS Vice Chancellor; Ms. Nuzhat Kamran, Director, Office of Advancement; Dr. Shahid Masud, Dean, Syed Babar Ali School of Sciences and Engineering; Dr. Adnan Khan, Dean, Office of Student Affairs; Mr. Mirza Zunair Zafar, Chief Finance Officer, LUMS and Dr. Saad Azmat, Director, Office of Research and Centre for Islamic Finance, LUMS. Ms. Maheen Rehman, Chief Executive Officer, AGIML, represented the organisation at the event.
The NOP is a unique scholarship, which aims to educate brilliant individuals from underprivileged backgrounds from across Pakistan. To date, over 1,200 students have benefitted from the Programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Ahmad expressed his gratitude and thanked AGIML for supporting the University in extending the benefits of the NOP to financially challenged youth across the country. He also discussed the University’s future strategic plans including the launch of new MS programmes at the Suleman Dawood School of Business and introducing Rausing Executive Development Centre’s programmes and facilities to Karachi. Ms. Rehman appreciated the strides that LUMS has made and extended AGIML’s commitment to continue to contribute to initiatives at LUMS.
The ceremony concluded with Dr. Ahmad presenting the LUMS History Book to Ms. Rehman.
