“A dream doesn't come true by magic; it takes aspiration, determination and hard work. The same is true for me,” said Muhammad Abdullah, a student of the LUMS MS Chemistry programme.

“After completing my MSc degree in Chemistry from the Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU), Multan,” continued Abdullah, “I strived to join the most prestigious institute of Pakistan – LUMS. My belief in chasing dreams strengthened when I got the admission letter stating that Muhammad Abdullah has become a part of the LUMS family, being one of the eight students selected that year for the MS programme in Chemistry throughout Pakistan.”

Abdullah said that life at LUMS has helped him realise his true potential to achieve all the goals that he had set out for himself. “LUMS not only has a great campus life and world-class faculty but also allows you the freedom to explore various avenues of intellectual pursuit. This yields an experience that is perhaps unrivalled by any other Pakistani institute. Well-furnished and fully equipped labs pay a testament to the thriving research culture here at LUMS.”

A beaming Abudullah said that his hard work coupled with the LUMS platform has paid dividends and brought him to the position where he is today. “I have been accepted at several universities in the USA including the University of Massachusetts (UMass), Amherst, for a fully funded PhD programme in Chemistry. Moreover, I have always been inspired by nanomaterials related research and it appears that the LUMS experience has made my dream a reality because I have been offered to join Prof. Vincent Rotello Group, one of the world’s leading research groups in Nanobiotechnology, at UMass, Amherst, USA,” shared Abdullah.

Abdullah encouraged students to join the graduate programmes at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science & Engineering, LUMS to get similar opportunities and make their dreams a reality!
