Maria Farooq is an Advocate of the High Courts of Pakistan, has a Masters of Law (LL.M) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, UK, and a Bachelors of Arts and Bachelors of Law (B.A/LL.B) from the Lahore University of Management Sciences, Pakistan.
Maria is currently working as a Senior Associate at Axis Law Chambers, a law firm based in Lahore, which specializes in dispute resolution, transactional advisory and consultancy services.
She has previously worked as a Managing Associate at MJLA LEGAL, a specialist business law firm that provides legal solutions to large organizations for high-value, challenging, and complex transactions, projects, and disputes. She has gained expertise in corporate, commercial, transactional and advisory work relating to mergers and acquisitions, labour and employment, intellectual property, telecommunication, foreign exchange and taxation laws of Pakistan. Maria has been recommended in the Legal 500 Asia Pacific for her expertise in corporate and commercial laws.
Maria has also co-authored the Pakistan chapters in “Foreign Investment Regulation Review”, 2nd edition, 2015, published by Law Business Research Limited, UK, in The Law Review series as well as in “Arbitration World”, 5th edition, 2015, published by Sweet and Maxwell, Thomson Reuters, UK, as part of the European Lawyer Reference series.
Maria is teaching Introduction to Pakistan Legal System to B.A Law major students this semester.
