Dr. Fazal Jawad Seyyed

Prior to joining LUMS, Dr. Fazal Jawad Seyyed, was the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) at SAIB BNP Paribas Asset Management Company (SAIB BNPP), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. SAIB BNPP is a joint venture between The Saudi Investment Bank and BNP Paribas Investment Partners, France. He supervised the management of mutual funds and discretionary portfolios of the company with total assets under management (AUM) of about USD 1.5 billion. He has over 30 years of university level teaching experience at various institutions in the United States, Middle East, and Pakistan.  Before moving to the investment banking sector, he was an associate professor of finance (1999-2004) at the College of Industrial Management (CIM), King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM), Dhahran.  CIM is accredited by AACSB International. Dr. Seyyed as Chairman of CIM Accreditation Committee played a key role in achieving AACSB accreditation for the College in 2002. At SDSB-LUMS, besides teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Finance, he is also the Director of Accreditation.

Dr. Fazal Jawad Seyyed holds a Ph.D degree from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, USA. He is also a member and charter holder of the CFA Institute, USA. His research work on the financial markets has been presented at numerous international conferences and appeared in several international journals including: The Financial Review; Journal of Business Finance and Accounting; International Journal of Accounting and Finance; Research in International Business and Finance; and Managerial Finance. A significant portion of his research work relates to the emerging markets of the GCC region. His current research focus is on agriculture sector of Pakistan as a catalyst of economic growth and development. He is the director of the Executive Certificate in Agribusiness Program (ECAM) conducted at the Rausing Executive Development Center (REDC). He has contributed to several case studies related to agribusiness and finance.
