Prof. Dr. Shaheen Sardar Ali, PhD, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA) is a Professor of Law and Director Postgraduate Research at Warwick University, United Kingdom. She was Vice-Chair of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention (2008-14); Professor of Law, Peshawar University; Minister for Health, Population Welfare and Women’s Development KPK; and first Chair of the National Commision on the status of Women, Pakistan. She has published extensively in the area of Islamic Law, Women and Children’s rights. Her latest monograph is Modern Challenges to Islamic Law (CUP, 2016).
