Career Services Office has organized a panel discussion titled ‘Employability Skills: Employers' Perception vs Reality’ at LUMS, in collaboration with Naqeebz Consulting.
In the session, Moazam Shahbaz, CEO of Naqeebz Consulting, will present the research-based, Graduate Employability: Employers’ Perception Survey Report (2018) to assess the skill gap in Pakistani graduates.
Date: Friday, April 26, 2019
Time: 3:00 pm
Venue: A-12, Academic Block, LUMS
The Graduate Employability survey was conducted to explore lags in job specifications and skill sets from both employer and graduate point of views and to address concerns of job shortages. To conduct the survey, 212 corporate respondents were canvassed, encompassing business owners, C-Level executives and HR leaders from a range of businesses and SMEs to large national Corporations and MNCs.
The survey identified that 78% of the employers were dissatisfied with the quality of graduates. The leading reasons for this were identified as “Knowledge, skills and abilities of the individuals fail to reflect the high grades they have obtained” and “Lack of commercial awareness”. They indicate that the curriculum and process of assessment rewards result-driven learning rather than demonstration of core enterprise competencies.
