About the Event

Organised jointly with the International Growth Centre, the talk will explore the potential of 'beneficial property tax' as a reform that can strengthen accountability and finance critical public investments and services in Pakistani cities.

About the Speaker

Professor Ehtisham Ahmad is a Visiting Professor at the Grantham Research Institute at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and a University Professor at Zhejiang University.  He is currently directing a programme of research on Financing Sustainable Development in Emergent Market Countries, with special emphasis on China and Mexico.

Professor Ahmad has considerable experience in designing and implementing reforms on Tax and Social Policy, Public Financial Management and Governance in emerging economies. He has authored a number of influential books on public finance. These include Fiscal Underpinnings for Sustainable Development in China (2018) and Handbook of Multilevel Finance (2015).
