In an effort to support prospective humanities graduate students applying to MA and PhD programmes in the US and Canada, the Gurmani Centre for Languages and Literature presents the Grad-Application Initiative.

The event will be conducted by Maryam Wasif Khan, Assistant Professor of Comparative and Literary Studies, LUMS, Zain R. Mian, PhD Candidate in Comparative Literature and Theory, University of Pennsylvania, Nabeel Jafri, PhD Candidate in Religious Studies, University of Toronto and consists of two parts. The first part will be a comprehensive information session that will acquaint applicants with the expectations, requirements, and standards for application materials such as the personal statement and writing sample.
This will be followed by a workshop in which current graduate students and faculty members will provide feedback and critique on interested applicants’ draft materials. Attending the information session only requires the online registration. Those wishing to workshop their materials must also send drafts to lumsgradworkshop@gmail.com by the July 31, 2019.
