About the Talk

LUMS Energy Institute and LUMS Environmental Action Forum will be hosting Malik Amin Aslam, Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change for a talk entitled ‘Climate Change Challenges of Pakistan’. Mr. Aslam is a highly distinguished professional in the field of climate advocacy. After completing his undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering from UET Lahore he completed his MBA in Finance from McGill University and MSc in Environmental Management from the University of Oxford. 

He has also served as a member of the UN Working Group on Climate Change since 1997. In 2011, he was elected to serve on the governing council of the International Union for Conservation of Nature for a four-year term in 2012. He was re-elected as Regional Councilor for Asia (2016-20) at the World Conservation Congress in 2016. He also chaired the flagship "Green Growth Initiative" for the province of KPK in Pakistan, which included the mass afforestation "Billion Tree Tsunami" project. He was also chosen to serve on the high level "International Advisory Council" for the Eco-Forum Global. He is member of the International Editorial Board of Climate Policy Journal since 1998. He has so far co-authored two books on climate change. Presently, he is spearheading the “Clean and Green Pakistan Initiative” which plans to plant 10 billion trees and reduce carbon emissions in the country through clean technologies such as Electric Vehicles (EVs).
