About the seminar
 
Around 7 million people in Pakistan are drug addicts, and about 700 die daily due to addiction–related complications
More than 3 million Pakistanis between the ages of 15 and 64 use heroin, and around 5 million use cannabis
Around 44 tons of processed heroin is consumed annually in Pakistan, which is two to three times more than US
 
The seminar will address the following questions
 
- Why do people become addicts?
- Is it nature or nurture?
- Is there an ‘addiction’ gene?
- Which pathways in the brain compel people to become addicts?
- Which substances have addictive potentials?
- Can addictions be curtailed or cured?
- What we need to be aware of about Nicotine, Cocaine, Heroin, Cannabis, Benzodiazepine and Marijuana addiction.
